While exercise and physical activity play crucial roles in maintaining our physical (and mental) health, correct nutrition practices are equally important to help maximize and maintain our results.
Prescribing a ‘perfect eating plan’ which fits all the required macros, with the exact nutrient breakdown needed to make the most of your of your training is not tremendously challenging. However, given that over 90% of people would have difficulties adhering to it beyond the first 2 weeks, it is relatively pointless.
Bearing in mind that no 2 people are exactly the same, We have found a much more successful strategy involves clients keeping an (honest) food diary so we can observe tendencies, offer alternatives if appropriate, and often clients themselves identify areas they can adapt or improve. This leads to a style of eating that is much more maintainable indefinitely, enabling the client to eat healthily whilst not becoming a slave to food prep, or having to become overly restrictive in terms of what they do or don’t eat.
